Programme Introduction 节目简介

Welcome to our special new series that aims to help you improve your English speaking skills. Over the next four weeks, Jean Dong and William Kremer will provide lots of tips and strategies to help you on your way towards better speaking!

We start this week with a look at confidence. What is confidence and how can you improve it? William and Jean speak to some English learners at Malvern House school in London. They also hear from Jin Lu, who won the 21st Century public speaking competition in 2009.

They also listen to an interview with Rob Green, the England goalkeeper. He made a big mistake in the 2010 World Cup; how can learners of English benefit from his error? Listen to the programme to find out.

Today's top tips are:

• Don't be afraid of making mistakes.

• You can prepare your listener for the fact that you might make a mistake.

• Think of your studies as preparation for speaking. In class focus on how you say things; when speaking, think about what you want to say.

Listen to the programme to find out more about this advice.

Next week, Jean and William look at the role of vocabulary in speaking.
