"Can you tell me how to differentiate 'hinder' and 'hamper'?"

Fox

Feifei received a food hamper at Christmas. Hamper 當名詞使用時的意思是裝食品的籃子。

But the verb 'hamper' means something quite different!

e.g. The rescue progress was hampered by the bad weather.

The verb 'hinder' has a similar meaning to 'hamper'.

e.g. The project was hindered by the lack of funding.

Do you know the subtle differences between these two words?

In this week's Question and Answer of the Week, Feifei and Neil help you distinguish the usages of 'hinder' and 'hamper'.
