    Warning

    Some very strong winds are expected throughout Thursday in association with storm 'Doris', with a short period where gusts of 70 to 80 mph are possible.

    Whilst the strongest winds look to be only short-lived, damage to structures, interruptions to power supplies and widespread disruption to travel networks are likely, with a danger of injury from flying debris.Heavy rain is also likely through Thursday as well as some snow over high ground as the system clears eastwards. These may prove additional hazards.

    Warning

    Some very strong winds are expected during Thursday.

    Gusts of 50-60 mph are expected widely across the warning area but a small swathe of even stronger winds may develop - most likely across parts of northern England, northern Wales and the north Midlands. Here a short period of gusts of 70 to 80 mph is possible, please refer to separate amber warning.Travel services could be affected including some restrictions on bridges and disruption to ferries. Some damage to buildings is also possible.

    Heavy rain is also likely through Thursday along with some snow over high ground. These may prove additional hazards.
