    Any remaining showers will soon clear away, with a mainly dry morning to follow, the best sunshine towards Speyside and Inverness. Cloud, rain and strengthening winds then spreading east during the afternoon and evening with some transient snow inland.

    Any snow turning to rain to leave a wet and windy night. The rain focussed in the west, particularly Lochaber where milder. Drier with a risk of frost in east.

    Icy stretches will form on many untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths this evening, overnight and into Friday morning. In addition wintry showers could give 1-3 cm of snow in places, mainly on higher ground above 150 m, but perhaps to lower levels in the far north of Scotland.
