Farewell Helen Young
Helen Willetts 'Best Weather Presenter'

Angie comes from Belfast and was educated in Holywood, County Down. She joined the Met Office in 1985 and trained at its College in Reading.

After passing the relevant exams, she became a weather forecaster in 1991. In 1993 she became a national weather presenter for ITN in London. She moved to the Newsline team in 1996 and has been the main weather forecaster since.

Although a full-time staff member at the Met Office, she spends her whole day at the BBC, creating the charts and maps for the programmes at lunchtime and 6.30.

Married, with three children, Angie describes herself as a full-time working mum. She lists her hobbies as gardening, theatre, reading, cooking and eating! Although not claiming to be a green-fingered expert, she is proud of her home-grown produce which she uses in home-cooking. She especially favours foreign dishes. Her ambition:- "To be my own boss and take frequent holidays in exotic sunny countries - just a joke - but it would be nice wouldn't it!".
