Submission Help

How to submit your weather photo

We accept photos by email to weatherpics@bbc.co.uk or if you have taken a photo on a mobile phone please text it to 60011 attaching the word "weatherpics" in the subject field. Please also include your name, the date and location the photo was taken.

We accept photos illustrating weather events and phenomena or those of interesting weather conditions. Please only send photos taken personally by you, or your family, for non-professional and non-commercial purposes. We reserve the right to crop or re-size your image so that it fits the format of our web gallery but will not otherwise alter it. Please read our terms and conditions before submitting your photos.

The Photo Gallery is usually updated weekly on a Monday but this may vary occasionally. The photo of the week is selected by the BBC weather production team from those submitted. All photos in the photo gallery will be fully credited. Photos submitted for use on TV need to be of widescreen ratio, be a minimum size of 1050 x 576 pixels, and should contain the words 'For TV' in the subject line of the email.

We keep a record of those who have submitted images that have been shown on the photo gallery in case we get external enquiries about your images. Should this happen we will contact you and pass on the email of the person who has enquired for you to liaise with them directly as you wish.

Terms and conditions

If you submit an image, you do so in accordance with the BBC's Terms and Conditions.

In contributing to BBC Weather you agree to grant us a royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to publish and otherwise use the material in any way that we want, and in any media worldwide. This may include the transmission of the material by our overseas partners; these are all reputable foreign news broadcasters who are prohibited from altering the material in any way or making it available to other UK broadcasters or to the print media. (See the BBC's Terms and Conditions for the full terms of our rights.)

It's important to note, however, that you still own the copyright to everything you contribute to BBC Weather and that if your image is accepted, we will endeavour to publish your name alongside it on the BBC Weather gallery. Please note that due to operational reasons this accreditation will probably not be possible if these images are used elsewhere on the website or in other media. The BBC cannot guarantee that all pictures will be used and we reserve the right to edit your comments.
