  • His family gave him a camera and he started to vlog about his life and disability, drawing in viewers with his sense of humour
  • Isaac uses his feet to edit his films and vlogs about his adventures, such as skydiving, tall ship sailing, and carrying the Olympic torch for the Olympic games.

What to expect if you want to be a web content editor

Isaac works on his own films and vlogs but many companies need skills like his for creating online content. For example, web content editors are employed by businesses to research, write and manage an organisation's online content, including text, images, videos and other media.

When you are a web content editor, you can choose whether you are self-employed or if you work full time in a business, meaning salaries and working hours can vary. If you were to work in full time employment, this is what you can expect, but remember - this is just an example.

  • Web content editor salary: From £19,760 to £65,000
  • Web content editor working hours: 35 to 40 hours. You could work evenings occasionally.
  • Typical entry requirements: You can get into this job through a university course, a college course or an apprenticeship. You may have an advantage if you do a degree in Journalism, English, Digital Media or Marketing. Other degree subjects will be acceptable to employers, as long as you've got an excellent standard of written English. You’ll usually need two to three A-levels or equivalent for a degree. You could take a college course to get some of the skills you'll need when looking for a job. Courses include A-level English or equivalent, Level 3 Diploma in Creative and Digital Media, Level 3 Diploma in Digital Marketing. You may need four or five GCSEs or equivalent at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C) for a Level 3 course.
