This is a compilation of images of a variety of magnets and springs used in day-to-day life. Includes a trampoline, car suspension, hole punch, playing with magnets, weighing scales and many more. Note: There is no narration in this clip.
This clip can be used as a starting point when looking at physical processes and forces. You could cover up the title, show the clip and ask the children to define the topic of the clip. You could then show the clip again and ask the children to make a note of all items that work with springs. What function does the spring have in each of them? Maybe hand out magnets and objects made from different materials, eg metal, plastic, wood. Let the children predict if the magnet will attract them and then find out if their prediction was right or wrong. You could ask them to draw up a list of magnetic and non-magnetic materials.
