A quick guide to the planet Mars, which is the nearest and most similar planet to Earth. Its name came from the Greek God of war, because it is the colour of blood. Its surface is covered in volcanos and ice caps.

Afterwards, pupils could study the other planets, recording similar and contrasting facts, as well as locating their position in relation to the Earth and the Sun. The children could choose to study one planet in detail and convince other pupils of its significance, using persuasive language and impressive scientific facts, as shown in the clip.
