This clip deals with the land settlement in the Treaty of Versailles, including Alsace-Lorraine, the Saar, demilitarisation of the Rhineland and the creation of eight new countries in the East with democratic governments, but leaving Poland and Czechoslovakia with German speaking minorities. The reduction in Germany's army and navy and abolition of German air force, war guilt clause, reparations, removal of colonies and the creation of the League of Nations are also covered.

Produce a spectrum of opinion diagram about the treaty, based on views of the time. Place different groups or individuals along the spectrum from 'Too lenient' to 'Too harsh'. Concentrate on views from France, Germany and the newly created nations. Relate the treaty back to earlier conflicts such as the Franco-Prussian War.
