Alexei Sayle discusses reliance on cars in rural areas with the help of Richard Hammond and Chris Packham. One alternative is community transport such as minibuses or shared scooters.

Students could look at the journeys that they take to get to school, and the mode of transport they use. What are the pros and cons of these types of transport? When do they use the car rather than the bus? This could be compared with the use of differing modes of transport in places such as London or America.

The idea of community transport could be introduced and students could discuss the advantages and disadvantages. This could be linked to global warming and the effect that community transport may have on this. Students could create leaflets or posters to publicise community transport.
