On his first day as a postman, Larry has difficulty remembering the directions. He repeats the instructions and still can't remember where to go. His friend draws pictures to help him work out where to go. The wind blows the pictures out of his hand and he can't remember what order they should be in. He recognises the places when he comes to them, even without the pictures.
How good are we at following instructions and finding our way? The class could play the left, right, step forwards, step backwards game; the directions are called out and everyone turns or steps accordingly. At a wrong move, a player sits down until only one person is left standing. Other activities could include a treasure search with simple pictorial clues; each picture leading to the place to find the next clue until someone reaches the 'treasure'.
