Tour guide Tess and the alien Sprocket visit two of the most famous natural landmarks in the Southern Uplands of Scotland. The Grey Mare's tail is the UK's fifth biggest waterfall, so named because of its resemblance to a horse's tail, and the Devil's Beef Tub is a short, steep-sided, 'tub-like' valley, previously used to hide stolen cattle.
Children could be shown the clip up until the alien Sprocket asks "What is that?" when he views the waterfall for the first time. Children can then discuss their answer and try to include as much detail as possible so that the alien won't need to ask any further questions. The children can then present their answers to the alien (teacher in role). The teacher could then probe any further information that the children may have forgotten to say by asking further questions.
