Can the temperature affect the viscosity of oil? An experiment compares standard oil with oil specifically designed to work in low temperatures. The oil which flows through the tunnels is collected and compared. The specifically designed oil continues to flow freely while the standard oil starts to solidify at low temperatures. With thanks to 'British Antarctic Survey'.
This clip could be paused after the initial question, at which point the children could create their own hypothesis based on their previous learning. The children could then watch the rest of the clip to see if their predictions were correct. Children could listen to the question and design their own experiment to test and compare the two types of oil.
