Pupils could follow up on their viewing by sampling some sweet and bitter tasting foods. They could try samples of sour and salty foods, too. After tasting their sample foods, pupils could go on to describe the flavours of a range of other foods with which they are familiar. Is it possible to categorise all foods as ‘sweet’, ‘sour’, ‘salty’ or ‘bitter’, or are some foods a mixture of several flavours?
