BBC Culture cast a wide net in order to put together this list of the 100 greatest comedies of all time. Some of the critics who participated review films for newspapers, magazines or websites; others edit film coverage; some are academics who teach film studies at universities, contribute to scholarly journals or have written books; and several film curators at museums and repertory cinemas are also included. Everyone who was asked to participate was required to submit a ranked top 10 list – in our calculations of the final list a number one vote was worth 10 points, a number two vote was worth nine points, all the way down to the 10th choice which received one vote. The 253 critics represent 52 countries and every continent except Antarctica. We present their votes here in alphabetical order.
