Black Forest rolls

Dark chocolate and cherries bring a taste of the Black Forest to these sweet bread rolls.


For the dough

For the filling

  • 200g/7oz dried morello cherries
  • 75g/2½oz dark Belgian chocolate chips, chilled in the fridge
  • 20 white sugar cubes, halved
  • 4 tbsp cherry brandy

For the decoration

  • 1 large free-range egg, beaten, for egg wash
  • 20 coloured glacé cherries, cut in half
  • 100g/3½fl oz nibbed sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon, for dusting
  • 50g/1¾oz good-quality plain chocolate (70% cocoa solids)
