Walnut fleur loaf


This treacle-enhanced loaf of walnut bread is shaped into a flower for a dramatic presentation.


  • 400g/14oz malted grain bread flour
  • 200g/7oz strong white flour; plus extra for kneading and shaping dough on kitchen work surface
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 x 7g/⅛oz sachets fast-acting dried yeast
  • 30ml/1fl oz walnut oil
  • 2 tbsp black treacle
  • 150g/5½oz chopped walnuts
  • 1 free-range egg, lightly beaten
