Fire crews have beat back the remains of a large blaze on the landmark Eildon Hills in the Borders.

Two pump units from Lothian and Borders Fire Service poured water on the smouldering grassland in a bid to stop the fire spreading.

The blaze, just outside Melrose, was first reported at about 1400 BST on Friday.

Walkers were stopped from using nearby footpaths until the fire was brought under control.
