Entries for two cycle races taking place on Skye are almost double last year's, according to the events' organisers.

The 90-mile Skye Mor and 45-mile Skye Beag will both take place on Saturday.

Strathpeffer-based Handsonevents, which organises the annual races, said 122 riders crossed the finish line in Portree last year.

The course passes the Old Man of Storr stone pillar and through Trotternish peninsula.

Organiser Linda Lawton said: "This year we have almost double the amount of riders.

"We always love our weekend in Skye and we hope that all the local shops, hotels, bed and breakfasts will feel the benefits of people coming from all over Britain to take part."

This year's event will be filmed for BBC Two Scotland's Adventure Show.
