Child sex abuse suspects released

Five out of six men arrested in County Down on Wednesday have been released.

One man arrested in relation to allegations of historical sexual abuse was released pending reports, while another was released on bail.

A man arrested on suspicion of having indecent images of children was freed on bail pending further enquiries.

Another held over an alleged indecent assault and on suspicion of possessing indecent images of children was freed on bail pending further enquiries.

A man arrested on suspicion of physically assaulting a child was released on bail.

One man remains in custody.

It is believed the arrests were made by detectives from the Public Protection Unit as part of an ongoing investigation into allegations of historical sexual abuse.
