Lib Dem and Labour coalition agreed at Solihull council

A Liberal Democrat has been elected leader of Solihull council presiding over a Lib Dem/Labour coalition.

The agreement reached on Tuesday night ends more than a decade of Conservative council control and comes after weeks of negotiations.

The council was left in no overall control when the Tories lost two seats in the local elections on 6 May.

Ian Hedley said he was "humbled" to be chosen as council leader and he "looked forward" to serving the borough.
