Six men wanted for questioning over disorder after a Port Vale match in Stoke-on-Trent have made contact with police as their images were released.

Eight other people arrested when trouble flared at the end of the game against Shrewsbury Town on 8 May remain on police bail until next month.

Police have had more than 40 calls since 11 images of men were released.

The Staffordshire force said it thought it knew the identity of three of them thanks to information from the public.

Officers said arrangements were being made for the six men who came forward to be formally arrested in due course.

Detailed investigations were under way to identify the two remaining men and officers were following up inquiries to confirm the names that were suggested.

Names have been put forward for all the men shown in the images.

The investigative team has now begun planning to arrest and question more than 30 people suspected to have been involved in the disorder which happened after the match.
