Teacher killed when car hits tree in County Durham

A teacher who died when his car crashed into a tree in County Durham has been named.
Anthony McElrue, 37, of Deepdale Crescent, Consett, taught English at St Bede's Comprehensive School, Peterlee.
He died when his Honda Accord left the A691 road near Lanchester and hit a tree at 0645 BST on Tuesday.
His brother, James, described him as a loving father who doted on his two children, Max, aged nine, and Leah, aged six.
