Carnoustie house fire leaves woman dead

An 80-year-old woman has died in a house fire in Carnoustie.

Tayside Fire and Rescue were called to the blaze at Panmure Street at about 0415 BST.

The brigade said the woman, who has not been named, was the sole occupant of the property.

A spokesman for Tayside Police said officers were not treating the blaze as suspicious. An investigation has begun to determine its cause. A report has also been sent to the procurator fiscal
