Man sought over attack on girls in Glasgow

Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to trace in connection with indecent assaults on two nine-year-old girls in Glasgow.

The girls were approached by a man in Gorbals New Park on Southside Crescent at about 1715 BST on 22 May.

The man chatted to the girls before indecently assaulting them.

The suspect, who was described as Asian, of average height, between 30 and 50 years old with dark hair, ran off towards Cathcart Road.

He may have a dark-coloured beard or facial hair and is described as wearing glasses, a dark-coloured baseball cap or light-coloured headwear similar to a prayer hat.

He was in possession of a dark coloured rucksack and is thought to have a foreign accent.

Det Sgt Nicola Burnett, of Strathclyde Police, said: "We are extremely anxious to trace this man in connection with the investigation.

"This incident involved children under the age of 10 years. We have increased police patrols in the area and would like the opportunity to remind parents and carers to be aware of the whereabouts of their children, especially in this period of good weather."

Police have asked anyone with information to contact them.
