Bullet found at house shooting scene in Midlothian

Police are investigating reports that a house in Midlothian was shot at and a bullet found at the scene.

Residents described hearing a loud bang followed by the sound of a vehicle being driven off at speed in Woodburn Avenue on Wednesday at about 2325 BST.

A section of guttering at the property was later found to be damaged.

Lothian and Borders Police has appealed for witnesses to the incident to come forward. The people living in the house were unhurt.

A police spokesman said: "Thankfully no-one was injured as a result of the reckless discharge of this firearm, nevertheless this is an incident we are treating extremely seriously, and we are appealing for anyone who was in the area, who may have saw what happened, to come forward.

"We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who noticed a dark-coloured car being driven at speed in the area after the shot was fired.

"Anyone else who has any other information that can help our inquiries should also get in touch."
