Cyclist, 40, dies after Sussex van collision

A 40-year-old cyclist has died in hospital after a collision with a van in East Sussex.

The woman, from Westerham, Kent, was on the A271 North Trade Road, near Battle, on Friday, when the collision happened.

Sussex Police said she was taken to the Conquest Hospital in Hastings where she died from her injuries a few hours later.

The 58-year-old driver of the Ford Transit van, from St Leonards, was uninjured.

Sussex Police have appealed for witnesses, saying they particularly want to speak to the driver of a large removal-type goods vehicle which was in the area at the time.
