An expanded air service for Oban has taken to the skies.

Argyll and Bute Council's public service routes were previously provided by the failed Inverness firm Highland Airways.

New firm, Hebridean Airservices, has been running flights between Coll, Colonsay and Tiree.

A new flight between Oban and Islay has started and a weekend special between Oban and Colonsay and Oban and Coll is being trialled.

The return flight between Islay and Oban will run twice a day on Tuesdays and Thursdays stopping at Colonsay en route.

In September the routes will have to be put back to tender again.
