Elderly man dies following crash in Helensburgh

A 77-year-old man has died in hospital - three days after being injured in a road crash.

James Rowatt was driving a Mazda 323 when it was in collision with a Range Rover on Argyle Street West, Helensburgh, at about 0900 BST on Saturday.

He died at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley, on Tuesday. His 72-year-old female passenger remains in a serious condition in hospital.

The 41-year-old woman who was driving the Range Rover was uninjured.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the crash to contact them.
