Sailor injured on container ship in Channel

A man was airlifted to hospital after being injured on a container ship in the Channel.

Dover Coastguard said the man in his early 30s suffered facial, back, neck and leg injuries during a fall on the CMA CGM Azure on Saturday evening.

The man was transferred to a RNLI lifeboat, about six miles off the coast of Kent, before being winched onto the coastguard helicopter.

He is being treated at Margate's Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital.
