Charges after man's throat is cut in Ashton-under-Lyne

A man has been charged with attempted murder after a man's throat was cut in an attack in Greater Manchester.

Police were called to a subway off Cavendish Street, Ashton-under-Lyne, just before 2000 BST on Friday where they found the injured man.

The 23-year-old victim was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition, a police spokesman said.

The detained man, 21, was also charged with possessing an offensive weapon and assault causing actual bodily harm.

He is due to appear before Tameside magistrates on Monday.

A second man, 23, who was also arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, has been bailed until 6 August.
