Walker from Midlands rescued on Skye after falling 32ft

A 57-year-old man has been airlifted to hospital after falling about 32ft (10m) in the Cuillins on Skye.

Malcolm Fletcher, from Halesowen, West Midlands, slipped on wet rock in an area known as The Slabs at about 1800 BST on Sunday.

His companion managed to descend to Glen Brittle where he raised the alarm.

Twelve members of Skye Mountain Rescue Team and Stornoway Coastguard helicopter found the injured man and got him to hospital on Skye.

He was receiving treatment to a fractured pelvis at Dr Mackinnon Memorial Hospital in Broadford.
