Cabling worth £3,000 taken from Caterham recycling site
Cabling worth about £3,000 has been stolen from a Surrey recycling centre.
Police said thieves gained entry to the site in Caterham by cutting a barbed wire fence.
Pc Craig Roberts said three large bags of cabling were taken and cabling was also stolen from a wheelie bin between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.
Adding that cabling was an expensive commodity, he said: "Metal theft is a real concern and it is something we are trying to tackle."
Police were working to crackdown on anyone transporting waste without a valid licence, he added.
He said officers carried out regular visits to scrap yards and places where people may try to sell cabling in order to gather information on suspects.
