Buckinghamshire council to debate 'major changes'

A council in Buckinghamshire is to hold a series of public debates to discuss "major changes" to its services.

The Bucks Debate will gain feedback to help inform future decision-making, Buckinghamshire County Council said.

Deputy leader Bill Chapple said it cannot continue with its current range of work when the "purse strings will be pulled extremely tight".

Two meetings will be held in each district council area from September, with times and venues to be decided.

Mr Chapple added: "We are facing one of the worst recessions this country has ever known, and Buckinghamshire is not immune from the straitened financial times ahead.

"We have tough decisions to make which will mean major changes to the services we deliver."

He said the council needed residents to work with the local authority "towards a common goal".
