'Crook's tour' of cash machines netted £14,000

A court has heard how a "crook's tour" of cash machines in south and west Scotland netted the perpetrator nearly £14,000.

Abdel Rezk, 28, of Damascus Street, Belfast, denied stealing the cash from ATMs in Dumfries, Glasgow, Ayr and Stranraer in July 2008.

He was found guilty of 29 charges by a jury at the end of a three-day trial at Dumfries Sheriff Court.

Rezkwas remanded in custody and to be sentenced on 29 June.

He was also found guilty of attempting to pervert the course of justice by giving false details to the police on the A74(M) near Moffat.
