Man remanded over stabbing of girl, six, in Guildford

A health care worker charged after a six-year-old girl was stabbed in the chest and her mother suffered a hand wound has appeared before magistrates.

Robert Knox, 28, of Russell Court, in Rowan Close, on Guildford's Bellfields Estate, faced charges of two counts of causing grievous bodily harm.

He was remanded in custody by Guildford magistrates to appear at Guildford Crown Court on 23 June.

The girl has been described as comfortable in hospital and doing well.

She is being treated at the Royal Surrey County Hospital.

Her mother was arrested after police were called to a house on the estate just after midnight on Wednesday, but later released without charge.
