Winter Olympics gold medallist Amy Williams made MBE
Winter Olympics gold medallist Amy Williams has been appointed an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours.
The 27-year-old, from Bath, came first in the skeleton event in Vancouver in February.
She was the first British gold medallist in an individual event at the Winter Olympics for 30 years.
Williams said: "This is a huge honour and a privilege. I'm so proud. I was absolutely stunned and completely blown away when I heard."
She added: "This really caps what has been an amazing few months since I returned from Vancouver. I'm really excited about going to Buckingham Palace. I can't wait."
Williams was also the first woman to be made a freeman of the City of Bath in a ceremony earlier in June.
