Teenager accused of Dunblane pensioner rape bid

A teenager has appeared in court accused of entering the home of a 76-year-old woman with the intent of raping her.

Ryan Liddell, 19, is also charged with hitting the woman repeatedly.

The incident is said to have occurred in Dunblane, Perthshire, at about 0400 BST on Monday.

Mr Liddell, from Dunblane, appeared on petition at Stirling Sheriff Court. He made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody.

Sheriff William Gilchrist continued the case for further examination.

The woman Mr Liddell is accused of attacking was taken to Stirling Royal Infirmary for treatment after the incident at her home in Springfield Terrace.
