Fish worth thousands of pounds have been stolen from a garden pond in north-east Hampshire.

About 70 fish, including several large Koi carp, were stolen from the pond at a house in Medstead, near Alton, between 1 and 8 June.

Pc Nick Whitehouse said: "This was an unusual theft and it would have taken the offenders some time to catch the fish.

"They would also have had to use substantial fish nets to land them."

He added: "We would ask anyone who is approached by someone trying to sell large Koi carp to contact us immediately."
