'Pipe bomb device' found in Antrim declared hoax

Army bomb squad

A pipe bomb type device found in the garden of a house in Antrim on Friday night was a hoax, police have said.

Army bomb experts were sent to the house in the town's Greenvale Avenue shortly after 1900 BST.

Residents were not moved from their homes but were advised to stay at the back of them.

Police are investigating a possible link to an incident in the area on 14 June. On that occasion a search was carried out but nothing found.
