Man stabbed by five youths in Glasgow street

A 43-year-old man is in hospital after being attacked and stabbed by five youths in the east end of Glasgow.

The incident happened at about 2330 BST on Friday as the man was walking home from a night out along Queen Mary Street in Bridgeton.

He was later taken by ambulance to Glasgow Royal Infirmary with a broken collar bone and injuries to his back.

Strathclyde Police have appealed for witnesses to the attack to come forward.

The force described the suspects as being white, male and wearing hooded tops that covered their faces.

One of the youths was wearing a black hooded top and another, a grey hooded top.

Det Con Lisa Ralston said: "The man was returning from a night out when this attack happened.

"He never saw or spoke to the youths. They just attacked him for no apparent reason.

"Although there would not have been many people around at that time of night, it is possible that someone in the surrounding flats may have seen or heard something that will help us with our inquiries."
