Woman cyclist injured in bus crash in Norwich

A cyclist has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a bus in Norwich.

The incident happened during the morning rush hour behind the Anglia Square shopping area.

Operator First Bus said one of their vehicles was involved in the accident with a woman in her 40s on a bike near St Augustine's Street.

East of England Ambulance Service said she was flown to the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital by air ambulance.

The bus driver was said to be in shock.

Police have started an investigation and officers were examining CCTV footage.

The bus company said it would give full co-operation in the inquiry and added that its thoughts were with the cyclist.
