Woman has van rammed in Breadsall robbery

A shopkeeper has been the target of a robbery in Derbyshire which saw her vehicle rammed and its windows smashed.

The victim was returning from a cash and carry store on Tuesday morning and her white van was hit by a car as she drove through Breadsall village.

Two masked men got out, smashed the windows and took a large quantity of cigarettes, which she had just bought.

Police said the woman was badly shaken and appealed for any witnesses from the scene and from Booker cash and carry.

Suspicious behaviour

The incident happened at the junction of Brookside Road and the A608 at 1048 BST.

The suspects used a dark-coloured Volkswagen Golf in the attack.

Det Sgt Sandra Gibbs of Derbyshire Police said: "This isn't the sort of thing that you see in Breadsall village every day so we are hoping there may be other people out there who may have witnessed what happened.

"We are especially keen to speak to anyone who may have been in the area around Bookers yesterday morning or any customers who may have used the store and seen anyone acting suspiciously."
