Armed robbers raid Haslemere betting shop

Armed robbers wearing balaclavas threatened staff with a handgun during a raid at a Surrey betting shop.

The two men entered the bookmakers in West Street, Haslemere, at 2040 BST on Tuesday.

Surrey Police said they demanded a sum of money from the till before fleeing on foot towards Waitrose car park.

Det Con Dan Chant said: "This was a terrifying ordeal for the shop assistant who was in the bookies carrying out his normal duties."

He appealed for anyone who saw anything unusual in the supermarket car park to come forward.
