Horrid Henry makes jump to hit big screen
Children's character Horrid Henry - created by author Francesca Simon - is to be made into a 3D movie.
The live action film, featuring Henry and fellow Purple Hand Gang members, will be directed by Nick Moore, whose credits include teen movie Wild Child.
The film, due for release next year, will be produced by Vertigo Films, makers of Streetdance 3D.
Simon's books have already been made into a CITV television series, a stage play and a video game.
In the film, Henry will fight "his ever constant battle against the tyranny of adults" which forces him into "an unlikely alliance with his irritating little brother Perfect Peter and the infuriating girl next door, Moody Margaret".
Its makers say they are looking for young British talent to cast in the lead roles of Henry, Peter, Ralph and Margaret.
Co-producer and screenplay writer Lucinda Whiteley said: "We're delighted to be bringing Henry to life, in the truest sense of the word - for so many kids Henry already exists.
"But seeing him up on the big screen gives them the chance to meet their hero face to face."
