Woman, 82, dies after 60ft fall down Devon river bank

An 82-year-old has died after falling 60ft (18m) down a river bank in north Devon.

The woman slipped from the pathway near Watersmeet House at Lynton on Sunday afternoon, police said.

The woman, who was not local, fell while she was out walking with a group. She had stepped aside on the path to let other walkers pass.

She was airlifted to North Devon District Hospital by a helicopter from RMB Chivenor but was dead on arrival.
