Man, 75, helps catch armed robber at Ladbrokes in Bath

A 75-year-old man helped staff at a Bath betting shop to detain an armed robber until police arrived to arrest him.

An Avon and Somerset Constabulary spokesman said a man armed with a knife entered Ladbrokes in Westgate Street on Thursday and demanded money.

He said the pensioner and two staff detained him until officers arrived at about 1045 BST.

The force has thanked the "good Samaritan" for his actions.

A 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of robbery.
