Police investigating the disappearance of Edinburgh bookkeeper Suzanne Pilley have charged a woman with attempting to pervert the course of justice.

She is understood to be 42-year-old Andrea Gilroy, the wife of the man charged with Ms Pilley's murder.

David Gilroy, Ms Pilley's former boyfriend, appeared in court in Edinburgh on Thursday.

The 38-year-old's body has not been found, but police believe her remains were disposed of in Argyll.

Mr Gilroy, 47, has denied any involvement in Ms Pilley's disappearance.

He was released on bail on Thursday pending further inquiries and is expected to appear in court again this week.

Ms Pilley, a bookkeeper from the Stenhouse area of Edinburgh, has not been seen since 4 May.

Police found CCTV footage of her outside her city centre office on the morning she disappeared.
