Sheep set on fire on Sussex farm

Police have appealed for information after a sheep was deliberately set on fire on a Sussex farm.

The burned body of the animal was found by a worker at Gote Farm near Ringmer at 0900 BST on Wednesday.

Sussex Police said the perpetrators covered the sheep in hay, before setting it alight and dumping it in a bale feeder.

Officers said they did not know if the animal was alive when it was set alight.

Pc Gareth Evans said: "This is an extremely cruel crime and we are keen to find out any information which may lead us to the person or people who carried out this callous act.

"There are many public footpaths in the area and someone walking nearby may have noticed something suspicious."
